Bone Crushing Power

How do Toulou Broadheads hold up when they encounter bone? Find out why the patented Toulou Twist gives you the added assurance of knowing that your broadhead will get the job even if it encounters bone on a marginal shot.

Single bevel broadheads are well known for their bone breaking ability and the Toulou Broadhead is no different. In fact, the Toulou Twist takes this feature and puts it on steroids by causing extreme rotation to come from the curved planes of the blades rather than relying on the bevels. As a consequence, Toulou Broadheads start rotating your arrow from the front as soon as it leaves the string.

The progressive thickness of the blades paired with this increased rotation causes Toulou Broadheads to act like a combination of a wood splitting maul and a drill bit. As a result, they split bones wide open and create more space for your arrow to pass through. That means more pass throughs and deeper penetration even on marginal shots. The extra rotation also causes your broadhead to dig into bone rather than deflect.

In one case study, as we were testing prototypes, a buck was spined at approximately 20 degrees with the arrow entering the seam of the left shoulder. Not only did the prototype broadhead survive the encounter, but it also shattered 3-4 vertebrae and passed through about 6 inches into the right lung. That broadhead is still being used today.

As bow hunters, we know that accuracy is the most important factor in making an ethical shot on an animal. That’s why we designed Toulou Broadheads to be incredibly accurate. But, perfection is hard to achieve every single time you draw back. The added assurance of knowing that a Toulou Broadhead will get the job done, even if it encounters bone on a marginal shot, gives hunters the confidence they need to execute when it really matters.
