Resharpening Toulou Broadheads

How do you sharpen a broadhead with twisted blades? Here is Trevor from Toulou Broadhead Company with 4 simple steps to tell you how easy it is!

When you get a pack of Toulou broadheads they come razor sharp right out of the can. Every one of them is hand sharpened right here in Tennessee.

Once you’ve passed your Toulous through a few targets, or a critter, there’s going to come a time when you need to resharpen them. Toulou Broadheads were designed for ease of resharpening. Even though we have a twisted blade design, Toulou Broadheads have a completely flat cutting edge that works with any conventional re-sharpening tools.

If you’re new to sharpening broadheads here’s four pointers to help you out!

  1. I like to use a sharpie and color the cutting surface.

  2. Get the angle of your bevel just right on your sharpening surface.

  3. Apply even pressure as you’re going back and forth.

  4. Check it often to make sure you’re removing the material evenly.

  5. (Bonus tip!) If you have a piece of stropping leather give it that mirrored finish with a razor sharp cutting edge.

Now if you want to save some time and you’ve got the resources, go and get yourself a powered sharpener. All the same tips apply.

  1. Color that edge

  2. Find the right sharpening angle

  3. Apply even pressure

  4. Recheck it often to make sure you’re not taking too much material off one side or the other.

There you have it! Thanks to our patented Toulou Twist™️ that gives you contoured blades with flat cutting edges; whether you’re using a piece of sandpaper, a diamond stone, or a powered sharpener the Toulou Broadhead was designed to be easily resharpened and last season after season.
